What is Tech Table?

Looking after tech can be a lonely job. Whether you run an MSP or you're the one-person IT team at a local business, it helps to have people to compare notes with.

Tech Table is a regular, relaxed evening in a local pub. Tech people get together, hear one short talk and spend the rest of the time chatting over a drink. That's it. No agenda to sell you, no membership fee.

How an evening works

  1. Grab a drink at the bar

    Say hello, pull up a stool or find a spot to stand, and meet a few new faces.

  2. Put it on the table

    Bring a problem you're stuck on, a tool you rate or a war story from last week. No slides, no agenda. The conversation takes it from there.

  3. Round-the-table chat

    The main event. Swap tips, help each other out and meet people you can call on later. Maybe another round.

  4. Stay as long as you like

    Things wind down around 9pm, but head home whenever suits you. Plenty of chats carry on at the bar.

Tech Table will never charge to take part. It's run by volunteers from the local tech community, and anyone who looks after tech is welcome to join.

Our principles

A few simple principles keep Tech Table a place people want to come back to.

  • Everyone's welcome

    First job in IT or thirty years in, first-line support or CTO. If you look after tech, you belong here. Pint, soft drink or coffee, drink whatever you like.

  • No pitching

    Come to share, not to sell. Vendors and MSPs are welcome; sales decks aren't.

  • What's said here stays here

    Talk openly about outages and mistakes. Nothing gets repeated outside with names attached.

  • Be supportive

    No silly questions and no showing off. We all started somewhere.

  • Share what you know

    Everyone brings something to the table, even if it's just a good question.

  • Better together

    Swap tips, pass on work that suits someone else and help each other out.
